ALSF emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of Liz’s daughter, Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for other children with cancer. In her lifetime, Alex would raise over $1 million before she passed away in 2004 at the age of 8. Since then, Liz and her husband Jay have worked alongside thousands of supporters across the country to carry on her legacy of hope. To find out more, visit www.alexslemonade.org.
Key Note Speaker Lauren Bush Lauren - As the founder and CEO of FEED, an impact-driven lifestyle brand, Lauren has witnessed firsthand the realities of poverty and hunger people face all over the world. As a sophomore in college, she had the opportunity to travel with the UN World Food Programme, taking her to regions across Central America, Asia, and Africa. Using this experience as an inspiration, Lauren founded FEED as a tangible way for her peers to make an impact in fighting childhood hunger. Scot's warm personality and enjoyable character are a welcome addition to the Channel 3 Early Warning Weather team. His contributions to the community include volunteering at various events -- whether it's helping organizations raise money for a cure or spending time with children -- Scot makes a personal commitment to help any way he can.
For the past 110 years, Channel 3 Kids Camp has been a haven and an escape for children from all over Connecticut. Thanks to our generous funders and supporters, thousands of children who would otherwise not have had the opportunity have delighted in a week in nature, learning, growing, having fun, and making friends. The unexpected pandemic upended everything: no programs, no fundraisers, no kids, no income.
We are happy to announce we will be back this summer and need your help. We have basic expenses to cover like everyone else; mortgage, insurance, and basic utilities. These alone are over $20,000 each month, not including payroll. With your support, we will be able to protect our beautiful 150 acres and facilities and be ready to welcome children this summer!
